Kevin R. Kirby was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is the son of J.C & Ernestine Kirby. He is the third of six children. At the young age of seven Kevin would follow his father, J.C., to work knowing at such an early age he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps to become a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1974 and then went onto mortuary school. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville in 1979 and the same day of graduation he drove with his wife, Lynn, back to Bowling Green to begin work that day. Kevin and Lynn bought the funeral home from J.C. in 1986 and embarked upon an ambitious remodeling project to the existing Broadway Avenue chapel and eventually expanded by opening the Lovers Lane chapel and cemetery in 1997 to serve the growing area of Warren County. He and his wife continue to work and strive to meet the needs of the families they serve with hope, dedication, and care.

Lynn Kirby was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She is one of four children. She attended and graduated Warren Central High School in 1977. After high school she attended Western Kentucky University. She married Kevin in 1977 and soon after moved to Louisville while Kevin attended mortuary school. During that time she worked at a local funeral home in Louisville. Lynn and Kevin have three children, Justin, Stuart, and Kaitlynn and four grandchildren. Lynn received her funeral directors license in 1983 she is also a licensed insurance agent. She began working full time at the funeral home with her husband Kevin in 1985.

Kaitlynn Kirby Clark Funeral Director

Kaitlynn Kirby Clark is the wife of George Clark, mother of her daughters Summit and Woods Parker and the daughter of Kevin & Lynn Kirby. She was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 2004 and then graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Textiles and apparel merchandising. After graduating she began working full time at the funeral home and received her funeral Directors license in 2011.

Eric grew up in Alvaton and is an 9th-generation Warren Countian. After graduating from Greenwood High School in 1999 he attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated in 2003 with a degree in history. Eric was formerly employed with Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc., a Lexington-based archaeology and historic preservation consulting firm, as a field archaeologist and cartographer. Eric serves as the manager and a funeral director at the Broadway Chapel. When not working, Eric enjoys working on his small family farm as well as woodworking, kayaking, hiking, skiing, and any number of other outdoor activities.

Dwayne is a licensed Funeral Director and has been since 1982. He has been with J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels since 1986. He also serves as the Chief Deputy Coroner for Warren County. In addition to his funeral director’s and deputy’s coroner’s work, Dwayne is the J.C. Kirby & Son family services coordinator. He leads the grief support meetings that are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Dwayne is married to Alex and has two children Matthew & Kimberly and 4 new children Morgan, Josh, Nate and Megan. They attend Hillvue Heights. Dwayne is a member of the Bowling Green Masonic Lodge, O.E.S. # 198, The Knights Templar, the Rizpah Shrine, where he is also is a Shrine clown, and a member of the F.O.P. # 13. Dwayne enjoys playing golf and photography.

Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels and has been with us since April of 2017. In his spare time, Cody enjoys spending time with his Scottish Terrier, Tabor, friends, and cheering on the Nashville Predators.

Phillip married his wife Katie Wheeler in 2015 and has a daughter Carolina Jane. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Kobie Thomas Wood was born and raised in Green County all his life and has worked in the funeral business since 2017. He is a 2019 graduate of Green County High School with honors and on September of 2021 he graduated from Mid—America College of Funeral Service obtaining his associates degree in Mortuary Science with honors. He received his funeral director and embalming license on February 2022. He attends Eastwood Baptist Church, He is a Warren County Deputy Coroner, and he is a Gideon, member of various clubs and organizations. He is married to Tyrah Jones-Wood and they have two dogs, Fitzgerald and Darby. He enjoys collecting antiques and model trains, playing piano, hunting deer and turkeys, and playing golf.

Christopher Asher is originally from the small town of Scottsburg, Indiana.  He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1991.  He attended Mid-America College of Funeral Services in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and graduated in 1997. Chris earned his embalmer's license in 1999, and his funeral director's license in 2010. Chris has worked in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky, as well as in Southern Indiana.  He has one son, Dillon Asher, of Clarksville, Indiana.  When not serving families, he enjoys building and repairing computers; and spending time wiith his family. But most of all, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Cheyenne Asher.

John graduated from Warren Central High School in 1979 and started work for BGMU (Bowling Green Municipal Utlilities) in July of 1979 where he started out as a Ground Man, later a Lineman, Line Crew Foreman, and as the Electric Distribution Supervisor for his last 6 years, after which he retired. John retired May 30th 2008 and lives in Smiths Grove, KY with his wife of 17 years; the former Suzanne McCarty. He has 2 daughters, Melissa White and Taylor Alder, a son Mason White, and a granddaughter Sydney Grace. Some of his hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, and anything to do with the outdoors and he is a member of the Elijah Upton Lodge #828. John is a licensed funeral director and a Warren County Deputy Coroner.

Mel Crosson comes to the Bowling Green area from Chattanooga, TN, where he worked with Chattanooga Funeral Homes for eleven years. Mel holds a Tennessee and a Kentucky Funeral Directors License. Mel is the organist for Eastwood Baptist Church where he and his wife Bettie are members. Mel and Bettie have a daughter, Melony, who is married to Steve Atwell and are the parents of their Grandchildren, Megan & Evan. Their Son, Chris, Resides in Georgia. Mel is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a 1957 graduate of Woodward High School. One of Mel’s interest is working in his yard and tending to Bettie’s roses.

Jim graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1970 and from WKU in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government. From 1977 until retiring in 2008 Jim was the Court Administrator for the 8th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth of Kentucky with the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts and received numerous awards from the State Court System. Jim began his career in funeral service in 2008 and began his apprenticeship in 2009 at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels to become a licensed funeral director. Jim has been active in many civic organizations including the Greenwood Optimist Club and the Crimestoppers Board of Directors. Jim now serves as Board Chairman of the Kentucky Commission for Children with Special Healthcare Needs with which he has been a Board Commissioner since 1991. Jim married Brenda Sledge Gildersleeve in 1975 and they are the parents of Alison, LeeAnn, and the late Adam Gildersleeve.

Eddie is a 1973 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville, KY, and received his 50 year pin in June, 2023 having been licensed since June 1973, and attended Western Kentucky University. He has been married to Patty McReynolds Smith for over fifty –three years. They have two sons Chris and his wife Penny and late son Chad A. Smith, and three grandchildren Skylar Paige (Smith) Martin husband Zach, Kaylee Jo Smith and Gavin Smith, and two step-grandchildren Madison and Kendall and two step-great grandchildren, Granger and Oaklee. He is a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, Bowling Green Masonic Lodge #73 F. & A. M., and the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, W. K. U. Eddie is an avid fan of both men and women WKU Hilltopper basketball and WKU football. He enjoys going to Florida, Smokey Mountains and yard work in his free time.

Ron currently is working as a licensed Funeral Director for J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels and Crematory. Ron is a member of Bowling Green Masonic Lodge #73 F&AM where he is a past master. He has two sons: Jeffrey and Wesley Baldwin both of Bowling Green. He and his wife Joy have one grandson Oliver. In his spare time he enjoys spending time on his farm and loves to hunt, fish, and ride his motorcycle.

Rhodes is a native of Stanford, Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971. He retired from the Kentucky Division of Conservation after 30 years, and is currently a Warren County Conservation District Supervisor. He was also one of the owners/founders of the Richpond Market and Deli. Rhodes was the first recipient of the Western Kentucky University Department of Agriculture Spirit Award. He and his wife, Marilyn, currently attend Southside Baptist Church in Bowling Green. He has traveled on many mission trips to Nicaragua and Honduras.

John graduated from Warren Central High School in 1979 and started work for BGMU (Bowling Green Municipal Utlilities) in July of 1979 where he started out as a Ground Man, later a Lineman, Line Crew Foreman, and as the Electric Distribution Supervisor for his last 6 years, after which he retired. John retired May 30th 2008 and lives in Smiths Grove, KY with his wife of 17 years; the former Suzanne McCarty. He has 2 daughters, Melissa White and Taylor Alder, a son Mason White, and a granddaughter Sydney Grace. Some of his hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, and anything to do with the outdoors and he is a member of the Elijah Upton Lodge #828. John is a licensed funeral director and a Warren County Deputy Coroner.

Mel Crosson

Mel Crosson comes to the Bowling Green area from Chattanooga, TN, where he worked with Chattanooga Funeral Homes for eleven years. Mel holds a Tennessee and a Kentucky Funeral Directors License. Mel is the organist for Eastwood Baptist Church where he and his wife Bettie are members. Mel and Bettie have a daughter, Melony, who is married to Steve Atwell and are the parents of their Grandchildren, Megan & Evan. Their Son, Chris, Resides in Georgia. Mel is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a 1957 graduate of Woodward High School. One of Mel’s interest is working in his yard and tending to Bettie’s roses.

Jim Gildersleeve

Jim graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1970 and from WKU in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government. From 1977 until retiring in 2008 Jim was the Court Administrator for the 8th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth of Kentucky with the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts and received numerous awards from the State Court System. Jim began his career in funeral service in 2008 and began his apprenticeship in 2009 at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels to become a licensed funeral director. Jim has been active in many civic organizations including the Greenwood Optimist Club and the Crimestoppers Board of Directors. Jim now serves as Board Chairman of the Kentucky Commission for Children with Special Healthcare Needs with which he has been a Board Commissioner since 1991. Jim married Brenda Sledge Gildersleeve in 1975 and they are the parents of Alison, LeeAnn, and the late Adam Gildersleeve.

Eddie Smith

Eddie is a 1973 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville, KY, and received his 50 year pin in June, 2023 having been licensed since June 1973, and attended Western Kentucky University. He has been married to Patty McReynolds Smith for over fifty –three years. They have two sons Chris and his wife Penny and late son Chad A. Smith, and three grandchildren Skylar Paige (Smith) Martin husband Zach, Kaylee Jo Smith and Gavin Smith, and two step-grandchildren Madison and Kendall and two step-great grandchildren, Granger and Oaklee. He is a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, Bowling Green Masonic Lodge #73 F. & A. M., and the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, W. K. U. Eddie is an avid fan of both men and women WKU Hilltopper basketball and WKU football. He enjoys going to Florida, Smokey Mountains and yard work in his free time.

Ron Baldwin

Ron is a native of Warren County and grew up in the Rockfield community. After graduating from Warren Central High School in 1975 he attended Western Kentucky University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technical Education. He retired in July 2013 from SouthCentral Community and Technical College after 32 years of service where he served as Dean of Applied Technology and Campus Director of the Glasgow Technology Campus. Ron currently is working as a licensed Funeral Director for J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels and Crematory. Ron is a member of Bowling Green Masonic Lodge #73 F&AM where he is a past master. He has two sons: Jeffrey and Wesley Baldwin both of Bowling Green. He and his wife Joy have one grandson Oliver. In his spare time he enjoys spending time on his farm and loves to hunt, fish, and ride his motorcycle.

Rhodes Hester

Rhodes is a native of Stanford, Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971. He retired from the Kentucky Division of Conservation after 30 years, and is currently a Warren County Conservation District Supervisor. He was also one of the owners/founders of the Richpond Market and Deli. Rhodes was the first recipient of the Western Kentucky University Department of Agriculture Spirit Award. He and his wife, Marilyn, currently attend Southside Baptist Church in Bowling Green. He has traveled on many mission trips to Nicaragua and Honduras.

Kevin Brooks

Kevin is a native of Warren County and graduated from Warren Central High School in 1982. He has been employed with Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation for 27 years. Kevin has been married to Susie Cundiff Brooks for 29 years and they have a son: Taylor and twin daughters: Sarah and Beth. Kevin is currently working part time for J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels and Crematory. When not working, Kevin enjoys hunting and fishing.

Rich Blair

Rich Blair, a native from Flint, Michigan, started with General Motors in 1967. He moved to Bowling Green in 1981. He retired in 2008 from GM after 41 years. He has lived in the Plum Springs area for 36 years. He has been married to Diane Blair for over 50 years, has two sons, Michael and Paul Blair and one grandson Colton Blair. He loves working on and driving Corvettes and most of all being with his family.
