Obituary

Virginia Sue Hays Donoho was born on April 7, 1938 in Warren County, Kentucky to John Hall and Essie Hays who precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by an infant son, John Martin Donoho, and father and mother-in-law Martin and Louise Donoho.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert Donoho; Daughters-Robbie Sue Doctrow (Jeff) of Lexington, KY and Sherri Lynn Farley (Byron) of Alexandria, KY. Grandchildren- Ryan Farley (Jesse) of Versailles, Ky and Megan Farley of Alexandria, KY. Brothers and Sisters; John Hays (Margaret) of Columbia, SC; Cilicia Burden (Raymond) of Morgantown, KY; and Steve Hays (Sandye) of Smithsville, TN. Brothers and Sisters-in-law- Ralph Donoho (Delores); Peggy Cowles (Harold); Edward Donoho (Joyce); Neil Donoho (Angie); and Terrie Hudson (Duane). Nieces and Nephews; Holly Weeks (Jeff); Michael Hayes (Kayla); John Atlas Burden; Ann Rhea Burden; Brett Hays (Tara); and Shea Colwell (Derrick); Kay Stinson (Todd); Troy Donoho (Kim); Kevin Cowles (Keri); Scott Donoho (Kim); Dana Rocheleau (Matt); Tyler Donoho; Alan Hudson (Shala); Alex Hudson (Stefani).
Sue graduated from Alvaton High School in 1956. She attended Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green Business College, and Bowling Green Area Vocational Center. She was a lifetime member of Bays Fork Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer and was active in all areas of church work. She worked at the ASC Office (later became Farm Service Agency) for 37 years, retiring as County Executive Director in 1995. She was an active member of KASCOE and NASCOE and received numerous awards throughout her career.
She was very involved with area and state 4-H programs as well as local school PTA organizations. She coached youth softball teams and played competitive softball for several years. She was a member of the Warren County Democratic Women's organization and was very active while her husband served as a Magistrate in Warren County for 12 years. She served on the boards of KY Farm Bureau and Southern States Cooperative. She was very involved and served as President of the American Business Women's Association and received the Cardinals of KY Chapter of American Business Women's Association of the Year in 1990.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Kentucky 4-H Foundation, 212 Scovell Hall Lexington, KY 40546. Envelopes will be provided at J.C. Kirby & Son.
Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 17, 2017 and 9:00 A.M. To 11:00 A.M. on Saturday with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Services will be held at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
