Obituary

Virginia Rhea Basham Davenport, 85, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully on May 8, 2019 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

The Warren County native was born December 9, 1933 to the late William Riley Basham and Nellie Francis (Milam) Basham. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Bobby Davenport; son, “Big” Tommy Davenport; brother, Ellis Basham; and sisters, Allison Tarrants and Imogene Hightower. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. Virginia was a wonderful caregiver to young and old and enjoyed quilting and time with family.

Survivors include five daughters, Doris Sears (Billy), Evon Hymer (Mike), Belinda Westbrook (Timmy), Pam McGonigal (Larry), and Michelle Mathews (Lee); two sons, Danny Davenport (Gail) and Dennis Davenport; daughter-in-law, Jenny Davenport; sister, Johnnie Young; brother, Jerry Basham (Carolyn); sisters-in-law, Marilyn Basham and Deanna Hayes (Dallas); brother-in-law, Jimmy Davenport (Linda); grandchildren, Kristi London (Josh), Kim Sanders (Kevin), Justin Davenport (Kelly), “Little” Tommy Davenport, Chris Graham (Megan), Amie Aspley (Matt Damin), Heather Young (Daniel), Landon Westbrook (Millie), Adam Westbrook (Molly), Aaron Westbrook (Aeron Smith), Wesley Davenport (Tabby), Megan Wahl (Shane), Mallory Flora (Adam), Cody Mathews, Colton Mathews (Haley Tibbs), Allie Mathews (Wesley Moyers), Jordan Mathews (Mayme Hunt); ten step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great grandchildren; and was known as “Aunt Den” to several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Church of Christ with visitation from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel and from 9 until service time Friday at the Church. Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, Archie Newman Wilson Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
