Obituary

Roger D. Osborne, 80, of Bowling Green entered into rest Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Roger was born October 14, 1937 in Allen Co., KY. He was preceded in death by his parents Garnett and Beatrice Osborne.

Roger, a Scottsville native, developed a passion for baseball as child, cutting his teeth playing pick-up games in the rural Meador Community. Osborne later lettered in basketball for Allen-County Scottsville High, the same place he met his high school sweetheart, Wanda Osborne. Osborne retired with the Warren County Sheriff’s department where he worked for nearly three decades and retired as Chief Deputy.

Roger was a dedicated pillar in the community and was a member of the Goshen Masonic Lodge #503, the Bowling Green Shriner’s club, was a member of New Hope Baptist in Scottsville, in addition to attending Mt. Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Roger parlayed his love of baseball into a youth coaching career that spanned nearly three decades, making an indelible impact on his grandchildren and countless youth in the area in the process. In addition, Roger was a die-hard WKU basketball fan and a season ticket-holder for 52 years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Wanda Goad Osborne, son Rick Osborne, daughter Sheila McDaniel, two brothers Stephen Osborne (Ruth) and Donovan Osborne. Six precious grandchildren Leslie Watkins (Devin), Chauncie Doyle (Hunter), Stevie Turner (Adam), Cassie Bankson (Brad), Elizabeth Seaford and Sam Osborne. Eleven precious great-grandchildren Zach, Ashton and Spencer Gross, Emmi Watkins, Rylee and Tucker Turner, Jack and Chance Doyle, Parker and Avery Bankson and Rhett Reynolds. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Sunday from 11:00 am until time of service. Masonic services will be Saturday at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
