Obituary

Peggy Ellis Davis Thompson, 84, of Bowling Green entered into rest Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at her residence. Peggy was a native of Hopkinsville, KY and was born February 7, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Elizabeth Booker Davis, her brother Robert Melvin Davis, sister Mary Elizabeth Scott and granddaughter Abbey Tyler McGuire.

Peggy was a retired secretary after 27 years in the Physics and Astronomy Department from Western Kentucky University. While at Western she coordinated the WKU Twirlers. She was a very active member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder and served in many roles. She was a former president of The Junior Auxiliary in Hopkinsville, KY. Peggy was an active member of Alpha Theta 662 of ESA. She was an avid sports fan and “Hand and Foot” card player. She was very proud of her family and supported them in every way she could.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years Henry L. Thompson, three wonderful daughters Cindy Donnelly (Tad) and Betty McGuire (Kreis) all of Bowling Green and Linda Hart (Kerry) of Brentwood, TN, sister Doris Anne Russell (Jerry) of Hopkinsville. Grandchildren Bob Donnelly (Faith), Kristin Phillips (Johnny), Harrison Donnelly (Lex), Richmond Donnelly (Corey Wright), Anne-Thomas Donnelly, Tanner McGuire Gallacher (Neil), Parker McGuire, Spencer McGuire, Colin Hart, Connor Hart and Catherine Hart. Great-grandchildren Livi Phillips, Henry Phillips, Hudson Phillips, Oliver Donnelly, Hayes Donnelly, Davis Donnelly and Thomas Donnelly. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Monday 12:00 pm until time of services at the church.
Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
