Obituary

James (Jim) Baron Cummings, 91 of Bowling Green, KY died peacefully in his sleep on May 15, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Young Cummings and his son James (Jimmy) Baron Cummings II (Dawn). Jim was a combat veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Naval Air Force as a member of Naval Squadron V.P.B.-74. After the war Jim owned and operated Cummings Wholesale, a distributor of food and supplies in Bowling Green, and continued working and volunteering well into his 90's. Jim loved working with wood, creating models and toys from any material available. He loved music, playing the drums and the organ. Jim had a particular love for fire engines, aircraft and flying, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Jim is survived by his daughters Lynne Cummings (Darryl Bellar), Jan Hardcastle, and Beverly Polson (Jack), and his grandchildren Chad Hardcastle (Amber), Emily Polson, Madeline Polson, Lauren Polson, Erickson Cummings, and James Baron (Tres) Cummings III. Visitation will be from 12 noon - 2:30 Wednesday, May 17 at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:30. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bowling Green.
