Obituary

Herbert Alan ‘Herb’ Scott, 77 of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.

The Louisville, Kentucky native was born January 5, 1941 to the late Herbert Ambrose and Ruth Lee Ann (Martin) Scott. He was also preceded in death by wife, Shirley Scott. He retired as a field engineer and also spent time as a teacher, basketball, and girls track and field coach who is in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Herb was an avid spelunker and 50 year member of the National Speleological Society who discovered a new branch off of Mammoth Cave. He was an obsessive University of Kentucky basketball fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Graham (Steve) of Knoxville; son, Mark Scott (Monica) of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Elijah Darden, Andrea Hester, Elizabeth Carmichael, Katherine Howard, Alex Scott, and Kennedy Parker; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim Scott, Judy Combs, and Ken Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will take place at the Horse Cave City Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
