Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Resided in Bowling Green, Kentucky

Charles Kerrick “Kerry” Thurman found eternal peace and rest on March 20, 2020. Kerry was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on August 11, 1963. He grew up in Slidell, Louisiana where his love of the New Orleans Saints was born. Kerry moved to Bowling Green, KY and attended Western Kentucky University. He married Sue Anne (Buckman) on September 5, 1992. Together, they had 3 boys, Luke, Eli, and Jonah. Kerry and Sue Anne found their greatest joys cheering on their young athletes as they grew into fine young men. Kerry liked to say, “I hear the train a comin’” as his youngest son, Jonah, and his team played in the Little League World Series. Family time at the Thurman home centered around being together and supporting their own teams as well as the Saints and the Hilltoppers.

Kerry is preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Dianne (Mabe) Wager and step-mother, Claudia Thurman. Kerry leaves behind his wife, Sue Anne, and their three sons; Charles Luke (22), Robert Eli (20), and Jonah Malone (17), all of Bowling Green. He is survived by his father, Charlie Thurman and Rose Featherston of Sonora; a brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Gloria Thurman of Moresville, North Carolina; step-father Carl Wager of Carrie, Mississippi; beloved Aunt San and Don Brandenburg of Elizabethtown; Aunt Vicki and Jimmy Bunch of Bowling Green; 14 nieces; 7 nephews; many cousins, including Matt Thurman of Tennessee; and his childhood nanny, Oleander Lester (95) of Slidell, Louisiana.

The family humbly requests that expressions of sympathy be made to a scholarship fund for Luke, Eli, and Jonah via German American Bank (2825 Scottsville Rd, Bowling Green, KY 42104).

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please check back for dates and time.
