Warren W. Hines
Warren W. Hines, 86, of Destin Florida, formerly of Bowing Green passed away at 7:30 p.m. on August 25, 2014 at his home.
The Morgantown, Kentucky native was born April 28, 1928. He was co-founder of Hines, Incorporated, representing the fourth generation of his family in the river transportation business for 35 years. In 1991 he retired and began his career of “resting in Destin”. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Suzanne Myers Hines, his parents James R. Hines and Clarice Griffith Crow, his brothers James G. Hines, Fount Crow, Wayne Crow, Willard Crow and his sister Sandra Hudspeth.
A memorial service was held at The Chapel at Crosspoint in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at JC Kirby Funeral Home on Lovers Lane with a graveside service at Bowling Green Garden at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at 2:00 p.m. at Mariah’s Restaurant in Hit Cent Park Plaza on the second floor.
Survivors include his four children, Cheryl Lynn Creek, Vicki Mahaney and her husband Roger, Libby McPherson and her husband Eddie and James “Rick” Hines all of Destin; six grandchildren, Carissa Creek, Rachel Elgersma, Justin Mahaney and his wife Caitlin, Austin McPherson of Destin, Samantha Hines of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Brian McPherson and his wife Holly of Bowling Green KY and six great-grandchildren, sisters Pat Frederick of Bowling Green and Sarah Troutman of Owensboro, Kentucky.
Mr. Hines was active in his church as a member of The Chapel at Crosspoint in Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32550. He served as a former president of both the Lions Club and Jaycees in Bowling Green. He was a lifetime member of WKU Alumni Association and a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F.& A.M. and the Anchor Society of Children’s Harbor in Alexander City, Alabama.
